I Never Finish Anything

We make haste
In the strangest
Of places,
Dark rooms with red dye
And a haze of velvet blue
In the sky.

A father carves out
His place
In the basement,
And puts young hands
To steel
With a short strike
And a steady grip.

Building empty shelves
To leave behind.
